ENTERPRISING youngsters at a Sedgley school have raised £135 for Beacon Centre for the Blind .
Ten year six children from Queen Victoria Primary School organised a talent show and raised funds by selling tickets.
The pupils spent almost six months preparing and planning for the extravaganza, from holding auditions during their dinnertime to select the acts to marketing the event.
They also made cakes at home to sell during bake sales as another way to boost the coffers. Wendy Briscoe, Headteacher, said: “Queen Victoria is always looking for ways in which to help our community.
We are really proud of our children for organising such an event. They have clearly shown initiative and we are glad to see that they are taking their learning outside the classroom and have the confidence to plan and execute such a project.
“We also recently won the National Standard for Enterprise Education award. At Queen Victoria we actively demonstrate that we have enterprise firmly embedded in the everyday teaching and learning which takes place at our school.”
The children presented the money to a representative from the Beacon Centre during a special school assembly.
