Cyclist airlifted following Dudley collision

A CYCLIST has been airlifted to hospital following a crash in Dudley last night.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Birmingham New Road and Sedgley Road shortly before 5.10pm.

A paramedic area support officer, an ambulance crew, the Hazardous Area Response Team and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance attended.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The cyclist, a man in his forties, had pelvic, back and abdominal injuries.

"He was also in a confused state and it appeared he hadn’t been wearing a cycle helmet.

"A pelvic splint was applied and he was given pain relief at the scene before being flown to the major trauma centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.”
