AN 18-year-old from Dudley has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 16 year-old boy in Smethwick.

Ben Morutare died as a result of a stab wound to his leg at the Smethwick Home Guard and Comrades Club in Oldbury Road, Smethwick at around 12.45am on Saturday July 28.

The 18-year-old was arrested last night and is currently in custody helping police with their inquiries.

Detective Inspector Gary Plant, leading the investigation, said: "We have received some information in connection with the inquiry however we continue to appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone who has information to contact us.

"This is a complex investigation particularly as there were a large number of people at the party at the time."
