Dog owner ‘let animal suffer’

A 25-YEAR-old Dudley woman has been handed a suspended jail sentence for causing unnecessary suffering to a dog.

Appearing in Dudley Magistrates Court on August 2, Lana Jay Cherrington, of Occupation Street, was jailed for eight weeks suspended for 12 months, as well as being ordered to pay £500 costs to the RSPCA for causing unnecessary suffering to a tan male crossbred dog by failing to act to address the dog’s weight loss.

The defendant, who was also banned from keeping dogs for 10 years, was also jailed for eight weeks concurrent suspended for 12 months for failing to obtain veterinary attention for the dog’s skin disease.

 

Also in court on August 2:

  • Roy George Brough, aged 32, of Wrens Hill Road, Dudley, was handed a nine month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £90 compensation and £85 court costs, for stealing 20 cans of Lynx bodyspray worth £90, from Co-Operative pharmacy.

 

In court on July 30:

  • Peter Telford Lewis, aged 43, of Roundhouse Road, Upper Gornal , was handed a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £50 compensation and £85 court costs, for stealing a wallet,

 

  • Abid Hussain, aged 50, of Himley Road, Dudley, was fined £110 and ordered to pay £15 costs and £150 court costs, as well as being handed six licence penalty points, for driving without insurance.

 

  • Karen Small, aged 39, of Devon Crescent, Dudley, was fined £60 and ordered to pay £15 costs and £50 court costs, as well as being handed three licence penalty points, for speeding.

 

In court on July 31:

  • Ian Robert Drabble, aged 39, of Dixons Green Road, Dudley, was handed an eight week community order and ordered to pay £85 court costs, for using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour against two police officers.

 

  • James Robert Drabble, aged 61, of Waverley Street, Dudley, was handed an eight week community order and ordered to pay £85 court costs, for using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour against two police officers.

 

In court on August 1:

  • Becky Leanne Cook, aged 29, of Cole Street, Netherton , was handed a nine month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 court costs, for stealing £9.35 worth of Cadbury’s chocolate bars from B&M.

 

  • Rebecca Cornbill, aged 28, of Corbyn Road, Dudley, was handed a six month community order and ordered to pay £85 court costs, as well as being disqualified from driving for three years, for failing to provide a breath sample.

 

  • Darren David Fillingham, aged 46, of Tudor Road, Dudley, was handed a 12 month community order and ordered to pay £500 compensation and £500 court costs, for assault.

 

  • William Junior Gamble, aged 23, of Wolverhampton Street, Dudley, was jailed for 16 weeks for stealing an £80 sat nav.

 

  • Philip Billingham, aged 35, of Blackacre Road, Dudley, was handed a six month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £40 costs, for failing to provide a drugs sample.

 

  • Choudhary Tasnim Rashid, aged Blowers Green Road, Dudley, was fined £36 and ordered to pay £15 costs, for possessing cannabis.

 

In court on August 3:

  • John Ashley Williams, aged 41, of Byron Street, Pensnett, was handed a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 court costs, for assault.
