THE Mayor of Dudley’s charities have netted a further £800 following a special football match between Dudley Council staff and councillors.

Staff from the Chief Executive’s directorate triumphed over a team of ward councillors during a six-a-side round robin tournament at Redhill School.

The event on August 28, which was raising money for Diabetes UK Stourbridge, Dudley and District Support Group and Dudley Stroke Association, also included a raffle of top football-themed prizes including goal keeping gloves and match day tickets, donated by Wolverhampton Wanderers, Aston Villa, Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion.

Councillor Melvyn Mottram, Mayor of Dudley, said: “I was delighted to see so many people come out to show their support and raise some money for these worthwhile charities.

“I’m extremely grateful to everyone who supported the event both on and off the pitch.”
