A DUDLEY care home has donated £595 to Dudley Alzheimer’s Society, thanks to a little help from News readers.
Staff at Broadway Halls put their best feet forward during a six-hour fundraising 25 kilometre walk from the home to Bridgnorth Cliff Top Railway in July.
Through sponsorship from friends and family, the team raised £450.
However after appearing in the News, the team were thrilled to receive a further £145 in donations from well-wishers.
Recreation and leisure co-ordinator, Jill Hadden, said: "The public has been simply amazing. A very kind lady who saw our article in the paper donated £100 as her husband has Alzheimer’s and care assistant Samantha Wood also donated £45 in memory of her grandmother who lived with dementia for over two years. It's heart warming to see such support from the community."
In a bid to raise even more money for the charity, residents and staff will also be taking part in the 1km Memory Walk at Dudley Zoo later this month.
