Appeal for identifying nursing home theft suspect
DETECTIVES are appealing for the public’s help in tracing this pictured lady, in connection with a number of thefts at nursing homes across the Black Country.
West Midlands Police are currently investigating seven incidents at care homes in Dudley, Sandwell and Walsall, who were targeted by a bogus male caller, who claimed to be doing official work.
Once inside the home he stole bank cards and cash from staff.
Police believe all the incidents are linked and are appealing for information about a female suspect, who was caught on camera withdrawing a significant quantity of cash using one of the cards stolen from one of the homes.
Borough nursing home staff are also being warned to be extra vigilant against bogus callers.
Detective Constable Lindsay Marsh, who is investigating the crimes, said: "People are often far too willing to give callers the benefit of the doubt when they come to the door, but you should always ask for identification.
Anyone with information should call Sandwell CID on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
