Man, 22, arrested following Dudley Library fire

A 22 YEAR-old man has been arrested and bailed on suspicion of arson following a fire at Dudley Library.

The man, from Cradley Heath, was arrested by police near to the St James’s Road library, following the incident at around 5.12pm yesterday, when a small blaze was found in the unisex toilets.

A police spokesman confirmed the man has been bailed until a date in October.

As part of his bail conditions he has been banned from entering Dudley town centre and banned from being in possession of a cigarette lighter, matches or any other flammable items in a public place.

The library is set to remain closed until Saturday, as specialist cleaners are brought in to deal with wide spread deposits of dust from the smoke.
