Man, 22, arrested following Dudley Library fire
12:50pm Thursday 6th September 2012 in News
A 22 YEAR-old man has been arrested and bailed on suspicion of arson following a fire at Dudley Library.
The man, from Cradley Heath, was arrested by police near to the St James’s Road library, following the incident at around 5.12pm yesterday, when a small blaze was found in the unisex toilets.
A police spokesman confirmed the man has been bailed until a date in October.
As part of his bail conditions he has been banned from entering Dudley town centre and banned from being in possession of a cigarette lighter, matches or any other flammable items in a public place.
The library is set to remain closed until Saturday, as specialist cleaners are brought in to deal with wide spread deposits of dust from the smoke.
