CHILDREN at Milking Bank Primary School have been joined by a new addition for the start of term.
A life size resin calf has taken up residence in the school reception.
The black and white cow, which features on the school’s logo, has been decorated with mosaic tiles to celebrate 2012 - with one side commemorating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, while the other marks
the London Olympics.
Every pupil at the Aintree Way school were asked to produce designs for the statue, with just four chosen by borough artist Ilona Bryan, who then worked to bring their colourful pictures to life on the cow.
During the design process, the artistic youngsters were also able to visit Ilona’s studio and helped make the pebble mosaic base, made from pebbles brought into school by the pupils.
Class teacher, Kate Trueman, said: “Everyone was really looking forward to the arrival of the statue back at school. It looks brilliant and is a fantastic welcome in the school reception area.”
