Wedding couples invited to tour Himley Hall

COUPLES planning their wedding day and hoping to follow in the footsteps of Royalty are invited to attend open evenings at Himley Hall.

The historic hall caters for civil weddings and partnership ceremonies and people can tour the venue on September 26 and 27.

Couples will have chance to look around rooms where royal newlyweds once took their honeymoon and princes and earls once strolled.

Each of Himley’s licensed rooms will be set out ready for a ceremony. The Hall’s Oak Room and newly refurbished art-deco style North Wing will also be set out for celebration receptions, complete with floral decorations and sample table layouts.

Councillor Tracy Wood, Dudley's cabinet member for environment and culture, said: “People have a unique opportunity to see Himley exactly as it can be for their special ceremony and reception and discuss civil weddings and partnership ceremonies with the experienced team at Himley Hall.

“The best way for couples to be sure they have chosen the right venue is to see it exactly as it can be for their perfect day.”

Himley Hall has strong royal connections and Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson were frequent visitors in the 1930s.

The open evenings are free and run from 6pm to 9pm. People will also be able to speak to staff about planning the perfect day.

Himley Hall has two rooms licensed for civil ceremonies, which overlook the terrace gardens with views towards the lake.
