HUNDREDS of people are expected to take part in the Black Country Memory Walk next weekend, in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.
The event, which is taking part at Dudley Zoo on Saturday September 22 will be launched by BBC Inside Out presenter, Mary Rhodes at 11am.
There is a choice of three walk lengths to choose from – 1.5km, 5km or 10km, with each route leading participants around an exciting tour of the zoo and castle. The 5km and 10km routes will also take in nearby Priory Park.
Music and entertainment will be taking place in the castle courtyard, including a classic car show and walkers will be cheered on from majorettes and cheerleaders from Dudley’s Time Step Dance Studios.
Fundraisers will also be encouraged to go the extra mile and take part in Bupa’s Memory Mile – as Bupa Care Homes is partnering event – and help raise a further £5 to support people with dementia.
All the money raised will help support people with dementia and their carers in the Black Country.
And walkers still have time to sign up by visiting memorywalk.org.uk.
Anyone who signs up before Sunday will also get free access to the zoo and castle.
Alternatively fundraisers can go along and register on the day before the 11am start time.
