SUPPORTERS of the borough’s Georgina Unit can help raise funds by taking part in a silent auction next week.

The event is being held on Friday September 28 at Dudley Kingswinford Rugby Club at 7pm and will raise funds for the Leukaemia Unit Appeal Fund.

Tickets are priced £6 which will include a fish and chip supper and can be obtained from the Kent Street charity shop in Upper Gornal and the Georgina Unit in the hospital.

Alternatively tickets can be obtained by calling Pauline Jenkins on 01902 680412.

The fundraisers have also recently opened a second charity shop in Fenton Street in Brierley Hill , as well as a stall on the town’s Concorde Market, in a bid to raise even more cash towards the appeal, which is this year helping to pay the salary of a cancer nurse.

The charity has also been able to buy an iPad with mobile broadband, which allows patients to keep in touch with their family and friends via social networking sites.

Anyone wishing to donate items including clothes, toys, bric-a-brac, small furniture items and baby equipment can drop them into the stores during opening hours.

Collection of items can also be arranged by calling Pauline on the number above.
