IT was a day to treasure for poorly youngsters on the children’s ward at Russells Hall Hospital as they were transformed into little pirates.
Nurses decided to mark the international ‘talk like a pirate day’ on September 19 with their own ‘be like a pirate day’.
With a face painter on hand to decorate the youngsters with skull and cross bones, eye patches and moustaches, the children were also treated to a special visit by Captain Jack Sparrow of Pirates of the Caribbean fame.
Ward staff, including the matron, also got into the spirit of the day with pirate themed attire.
Steve Ford, from the ward’s Wishing Well appeal, said: “It was a great day and Captain Jack did his job and cheered up the children as well as making the day for many of the staff as well!”
