Sunday zumba to help kickboxing champ

A DUDLEY mum is hoping to raise pounds while helping people shed pounds at a special class on Sunday.

Lisa Smith, a group fitness instructor at Dudley Leisure Centre, is holding a zumbathon to raise money to help her son Zachary Smith to represent Great Britain in kickboxing at the Amateur World Championships.

Zach, aged 15, has previously held the title of West Midlands Champion and hopes to represent his country at the 2012 International Sport Kickboxing Association Amateur World Championships in Holland in October.

Anyone interested in taking part in the two-hour event are asked to donate £5 to help cover the cost of Zach’s flights, accommodation and entrance to the tournament.

Councillor Tracy Wood, cabinet member for environment and culture, said: “Zach trains very hard and it would be a fantastic opportunity for him to represent Great Britain at the world championships.

"I wish him luck with his fundraising and hope to hear great things about him in the future”.

The session will run from 4pm until 6pm with people urged to just turn up on the day.
