LENNY Henry has spoken of his pride at being honoured with the Freedom of the Borough.

The decision to present the Dudley-born comic, actor, charity fundraiser and television presenter with the traditional Freedom of the Borough scroll is set to be officially approved by Dudley councillors at a special meeting of Full Council on Monday.

Speaking at Thomas Dudley Ltd last week, a humbled Lenny told the News: “It is wonderful news. I am very touched. My mum would have been very proud.”

Councillor David Sparks, leader of Dudley Council, said: “It is with great pleasure that we are offering one of Dudley’s proudest sons the Freedom of Dudley. The council wants to bestow this honour on Lenny to recognise his services to entertainment and also to recognise his outstanding contribution to charity.”
