Former mayor hands over charity cash

TWO charities have shared £24,490 following a year’s fundraising efforts by the former Mayor of Dudley.

Councillor Michael Evans, who was last year’s Mayor, handed over the funds to representatives from the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) and the leukaemia unit at Russells Hall Hospital.

The presentation took place during a special ceremony in the Mayor’s parlour at Dudley Council House, which was hosted by the current Mayor, cllr Melvyn Mottram.

Councillor Michael Evans, former Mayor of Dudley, said: “It gives me great pleasure to present the money to these extremely worthwhile causes. I’m glad to have been able to use my Mayoral year for generating money for charity and I thank everyone who contributed.”
