LIBRARY users can check-out books in style following a £208k makeover of Dudley Library.
Work on the St James’s Road library has been ongoing for the last five months with parts of the library temporarily closed off as the work progressed.
However full service is now resumed as the 103 year-old historic building now boasts brighter and fresher modern furnishings, fixtures and fittings which blend in the features of the listed building.
There is also a new layout, improved disabled access and updated IT facilities with free WiFi.
The ground floor now features an improved children’s area, the tenants’ choice showroom and the staff counter have been replaced with pods.
Visitors can also drop-in to a new health hub on the first floor where NHS Health Exchange trainers will on hand to give help and advice on a range of health issues include weight loss and smoking.
Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member for housing, libraries and adult learning, said: "The library looks fantastic and the new layout makes it even easier to access books, CDs and other services.
“This is an excellent facility which local people can enjoy for many years to come."
