Man jailed for stealing a pasty

A KATES Hill man has been jailed for four months for stealing a pasty.
Appearing in Dudley Magistrates Court on October 2, Stuart Round, aged 23, of Cornflower Crescent, was jailed concurrently for stealing the £1.99 food item from Kumar News.
The defendant was also jailed for four months for stealing make-up from Boots in Kingswinford.
He was also disqualified from driving for 12 months, for taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
The defendant was also jailed or four months consecutive, for stealing a £1,200 laptop, from Cash Converters as well as being jailed for one month concurrent for assault.
Also in court on October 2:
- Danielle Erica Chilton, aged 30, of Flavell Street, Dudley, was handed a 12 month community order and ordered to pay £85 court costs, for £283 worth of clothing and perfume from Debenhams.
The defendant was also handed a 12 month community order for stealing three pairs of pyjamas, worth £54.97 from New Look.
In court on October 1:
- Steven Michael Dawkins, aged 24, of Dudley Road, Brierley Hill, was fined £130 and ordered to pay £50 compensation, £15 costs and £85 court costs, for assaulting a police officer.
- Shane Paul Huxley, aged 30, of New Street, Dudley, was jailed for ten weeks suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay £5.48 compensation and £85 court costs, for stealing alcohol.
The defendant was also jailed for ten weeks suspended for 12 months consecutive, as well as being ordered to pay £9.94 compensation, for stealing four bars of chocolate and two cans of vodka.
- Jack Dunn, aged 18, of Copse Road, Netherton, was fined £55 and ordered to pay £15 costs and £80 costs, for driving a vehicle he was not licensed to drive.
The defendant was also fined £85 for driving without a test certificate.
He was also fined £160 and handed six licence penalty points, for driving without insurance.
- Ishtaiq Ahmed, aged 37, of Churchfield Street, Dudley, was fined £192 and ordered to pay £15 costs and £850 court costs, as well as being handed six licence penalty points, for failing to give the identity of a driver.
In court on October 3:
- Marcus Andrew Bunce, aged 19, of St Georges Road, Netherton, was handed a 12 month community order and ordered to pay £160 compensation and £80 court costs, for stealing a £160 Ipod Touch.
The defendant was also handed a 12 month community order and ordered to pay £160 compensation, for stealing a £160 Ipod Touch.
He was also handed a 12 month community order and ordered to pay £250 compensation for dishonestly undertaking or assisting in the retention, removal or disposal of a Nintendo 3DS.
The defendant was also handed a 12 month community order for stealing a TomTom.
- Ian James Rollinson, aged 19, of North Street, Dudley, was handed a 12 month community order for stealing £150 worth of jeans from Peacocks.
The defendant was also handed a 12 month community order and ordered to pay £100 compensation for assault.
He was also handed a 12 month community order and ordered to pay £300 mobile phone, from O2.
- Lail Cartwright, aged 31, of Victoria Road, Brierley Hill, was fined £50 and ordered to pay £15 costs and £250 court costs, for destroying a glass window pane.
In court on October 4:
- Daniel Paul Moore, aged 30, of Wilson Road, Brockmoor, was handed a six month community order for assault.
- Naid Kosar, aged 29, of Cypress Road, Dudley, was fined £110 and ordered to pay £15 costs and £80 court costs, as well as being handed six licence penalty points, for driving without insurance.
In court on October 5:
- William Junior Gamble, aged 23, of Stourbridge Road, Dudley, was jailed for 12 months, for stealing £750 worth of electric shavers, from Boots.
- Luke John Moore, aged 24, of Leys Crescent, Brockmoor, was jailed for 26 weeks suspended for two years and ordered to pay £500 compensation for burglary.

However, perhaps the owner of Kumar News can explain how he has the gall to charge £1.99 for a pasty? Are they hand made on site by Jamie Oliver or something?

Plus, do the courts really think fining someone for assaulting a police officer will stop him doing it again? That must really wrankle with the Police!!
