Man jailed for stealing a pasty why did the headline try to make out this was his only offence

What sort of justice system have we got??.... bloke gets four months in jail for stealing, yet a thug gets just a fine for assaulting a "police officer".

Shouldn't it have been the other way around. Is this the way our Courts protects our Police??

Absolute disgrace!!!!

Quite right Dudley old boy. The defendant is obviously a persistent thief and he wasn't only jailed for pinching a pasty. However, perhaps the owner of Kumar News can explain how he has the gall to charge £1.99 for a pasty? Are they hand made on site by Jamie Oliver or something?

Couldn't agree more with Dudley Old Boy. I was sucked in to the headline about a pasty pincher being jailed, only to find he'd actually committed a whole load more offences. It's the headline writers who are to blame; trying to sensationalise a situation.

Plus, do the courts really think fining someone for assaulting a police officer will stop him doing it again? That must really wrankle with the Police!!
