LOLLIPOP crossing patrol staff in Dudley borough has been praised at a ceremony to mark six decades of the service.
An event at Dudley Town Hall celebrated the role lollipop men and women play in helping young people get to school safely.
The Mayor of Dudley councillor Alan Finch and cllr Khurshid Ahmed, Dudley cabinet member for transport, presented the 97 members of the school crossing patrol team with a commemorative certificate and badge.
Cllr Finch said: “The school crossing patrol service was officially created by the School Crossing Patrol Act 1953 and it’s brilliant to see how much of a positive effect this has had in the borough since then.
Cllr Ahmed added: “As we mark the 60 year anniversary of school crossing patrols we want to remind drivers to slow down and pay attention to the work the officers are doing in order to help keep people safe."
