A STOURBRIDGE teenager has been left "devastated" and unable to sit a music exam after her vintage flute, worth £1,000, was stolen on a train.

The youngster was travelling between Stourbridge and Solihull when the musical instrument was taken from the 16.51hrs Stourbridge to Dorridge train on Tuesday October 15.

British Transport Police (BTP) have been carrying out enquiries to try and trace the missing flute - a silver headed Yamaha model - including trawling through CCTV footage and liaising with second hand shops and websites.

Investigating officer, PC Shani Plumb, said: “The victim and her family are extremely upset at the loss of the flute as, not only is it worth a considerable amount of money, it is described as a vintage model which is no longer made and, therefore, is of huge sentimental value.

“The victim is particularly devastated at losing her property. She is also currently unable to sit an exam without her flute so I would urge anyone with information to come forward about the whereabouts of the flute and contact British Transport Police in confidence."

Transport officers also want to hear from anyone who may have been offered a flute resembling the one pictured.

Anyone with information is asked to call British Transport Police on 0800 405040, or text 61016, and quote incident reference number WWA/B6 of 28/11/2013.

Alternatively call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
