BOOK-WORMS celebrated a new chapter in Cradley Library's history as they marked its 75th anniversary.

The Friends of Cradley Library organised a birthday party which attracted users of the historic facility.

Cradley Councillor and friends chairman Tim Crumpton said: “This is a wonderful Library full of character and used in a lot of different ways by local people.

"The celebration included a display with pictures from the past and we raised almost £90 which will be used to put on events throughout the year."

He added: "The library has just had a well needed makeover and we are looking to get a number of old paintings and local artifacts, which were removed from the library a few years ago, back on display."

The next event is World Book night on Wednesday, April 23 when we shall hopefully be giving away books at a number of venues in Cradley.

Cllr Crumpton added: "The friends group is now about 50 strong but we are always looking for more to join us, if you are interested just pop in the library and fill in the slip."
