DUDLEY Council is calling for help from borough businesses to help light up the bonfire night sky.

The authority is appealing for wooden pallets to be used in the construction of the Himley Hall bonfire, which will be the centrepiece of a spectacular night of celebrations on Saturday November 8.

Thousands of people are expected to flock to the event, at Himley Park, to see the bonfire which is predicted to be one of Britain’s biggest.

Cllr Hilary Bills, Dudley cabinet member for environment and culture, said: “By donating pallets local businesses people can say they played a part in putting on a fantastic show for thousands of people.”

The council is looking for borough companies who can donate unbroken, wooden pallets to be delivered to them. Organisers can only accept wooden pallets and not garden rubbish, tree trunks or old furniture.

Companies wishing to dispose of their pallets and are able to deliver to Himley Park should contact Himley Hall and Park on 01384 817817.
