SHOPPERS are being urged to help a Blackheath charity shop by filling 2,000 bags with donations of clothes to boost its stock.

The town’s Age UK shop is taking part in the Big Bag Challenge organised by the charity nationally to combat a fall in second hand offerings.

Manager Twig Fields said: “We are getting lots of toys but donations of clothes are down so we are hoping that giving out the bags will encourage people to sort through their wardrobes for unwanted items.”

She added: “The shops are essential for fundraising and keep the charity going to help a million older lives be less lonely with services such as lunch clubs, day centre activities and the Call in Time befriending network.”
