AN inter-faith conference is being held at the new Hindu Temple in Rowley Regis.

The leaders at the Shri Pashupatinath Mandir have invited representatives of all the different faiths represented in Rowley Regis to the meeting on Saturday, February 7.

There will also be an exhibition of Indian art and a community meal will be held after the conference which local residents have also been invited.

Shobha Sharma, from the Shri Pashupatinath Mandir Temple, said: "We thought with everything going on in the world at the moment it is the right time for all the faiths to get together and support each other.

"We want to bring different faiths and unite the community so we are hosting the first ever Inter-faith awareness day to bring people of various faiths, leaders, the community and local councillors together.

"We have also invited members of West Midlands Police and Building a Better Blackheath and the Black Country Housing Group."

She added: "It will be a wonderful day of networking at our new temple which we would like members of the community to see.

"Our devotees come from many different backgrounds and roots with different languages, foods, clothing and cultural inspirations and we always welcome new visitors.

She added: "Following our first event, a chance for regular get together for community members and representatives from organisations will be held each Sunday during the coming weeks together with a community meal."

The leaders of the temple have already met with representatives of Sandwell Anglican and Methodist churches.

The inter-faith day is at the Shri Pashupatinath Mandir Temple, Park Road, Rowley Regis, between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday, February 7.
