WALL Heath restaurant Alam International played a blinder when it staged two charity curry evenings to help raise funds for Kewford Eagles football club this week.

Money raised from the curry nights will pay for the cost of a defibrillator which the club has been eager to obtain for its recently built Eagle Park ground in Swindon Road.

The curry evenings are expected to raise in the region of £1,400, the total being boosted by some generous raffle prizes.

Lynn Boleyn, charity trustee for Kewford Eagles, said: "It was a wonderful gesture by Joe Uddin and Alan Emery who run the Alam.

"We had some wonderful raffle prizes donated as well. There was a replica FA Cup football which all the children were desperate to win, while there was also a VIP hospitality package for a Wolverhampton Wanderers game.

"The defibrillator is something which I hope we never have to use, but it will help safeguard both players and spectators alike.

"It's a vital piece of lifesaving equipment which we will also be making available to the wider community as well."

This isn't the first time the Alam has supported Kewford.

A previous charity event raised £1,600 which went towards the development of Eagle Park.

And Lynn Boleyn added: "The curry evenings went so well that the Alam have also offered to hold another charity evening for us around the end of March."
