STOURBRIDGE College is hosting an event tomorrow to showcase the courses it has on offer to local school leavers who want a career in public services.

Starting at 6.30pm tomorrow (Wednesday, March 4), local pupils and parents have been invited to the Hagley Road campus to speak to staff and lecturers about the Uniformed Public Services courses on offer.

Stella Raphael-Reeves, director of Sports, Uniformed Public Services and Land Based Provision, said: “There is expected to be an increase of 14,500 jobs in the Forces in the Midlands Region between 2015 and 2020 and officer jobs across the UK are up 12 per cent.

“Working in the uniformed services not only provides job security, the starting salaries are good and there’s a variety of different career pathways on offer.

“For example, with more than 140 different types of jobs available in the Army ranging from chefs, medics and lawyers through to pilots, engineers and mechanics, there is great potential to advance further within your chosen field.”

Visitors will get the opportunity to have a look at the facilities on offer following the £6 million investment in the new building.
