PEOPLE are being encouraged to enjoy the month of May with a range of outdoor walks and activities in Dudley borough.

The ‘let’s get active outdoors’ programme includes a number of free fitness sessions, walks and activities in parks, nature reserves and green spaces.

On Saturday May 9 there will be May Day fun with the Friends of Priory Park from 11am to 3pm.

The event at the Dudley park will include fun for all the family including penalty shoot out, Dudley’s got talent, face painting, stalls and a bouncy castle.

There will be an easy access trail for wheelchair users and their friends and family at Himley Hall on Saturday May 16.

Participants will have the chance to find out about the hall and park’s fascinating history but are asked to book in advance on 01384 817817.

On Thursday May 21 there will be a bee walk at Fens Pool where people will learn more about the fight for bee conservation.

Walkers will meet at 10am on Chapel Street car park and are ask to book their space by calling 01384 82780.

There will be a wildlife fun session at Mary Stevens Park on Tuesday May 26 from 11am to 12.30pm. Children will be invited to create a butterfly friendly banquet and a donation of £2 per child is requested.

On Thursday May 28 there will be a two hour led walk around Huntington and Romsley. Walkers are asked to meet at the Huntingtree Park activity centre at 9.45am for a prompt 10am start.

Taster rowing sessions will take place at Dudley Watersports Centre, Netherton.

Sessions will cost £2 per person and run every Sunday from 1pm to 4pm and every Tuesday at 6pm to 7.30pm.

A four week ‘learn to row’ course costing £10 per person also takes place at the centre with sessions running every Sunday throughout May.

“Being active outside in the natural environment is known to keep us physically and mentally well.

“In Dudley we are fortunate to have so many beautiful parks and nature reserves, which often look at their best in May, and I encourage everyone to take advantage of them by getting active outside.”
