A SPURNED lover from Cradley Heath who pushed his former partner into bushes before stamping on her £200 mobile telephone has avoided a jail sentence.

Terry Price also pestered the woman after his arrest when he made threats to try and get her to drop her complaint to the police.

Mr Patrick Sullivan, prosecuting, said the couple had been in a two year relationship that ended and after going round to the woman’s home Price became aggressive.

And after pushing her into the bushes and shattering her mobile he told her: “That’s what I think of you.”

Price of Station Road admitted common assault, criminal damage and witness intimidation and Judge Nicholas Webb ruled he was able to allow him his freedom because he had already spent over six months in custody being held on remand.

He placed the 29 year old on Supervision for two years and ordered him to obey a three month curfew between the hours of 8.00pm and 7.00am.

The judge sitting at Wolverhampton Crown Court also made a two year restraining order forbidding Price from having any contact with his former partner.

He said: “This is a case that amply deserves custody but you have already served the equivalent of a 13 month prison sentence."
