GARDEN lovers are in for a treat this month Westacres once again opens its grounds to the public for the tenth time.

Situated off the A449 at Prestwood, the home offers three quarters of an acre of paradise for plant collectors.

The garden contains a wide collection of plants and decorations which are available for viewing on Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19 between 11am and 4pm.

Visitors will be able to buy plants and there will also be homemade teas available which will be served in a covered area of the garden.

The entry fee of £4 will be donated to charity through the National Gardens Scheme, which distributes money to a variety of different charities.

The gardens has established a huge following in the ten years the owners of Westacres have opened their grounds to the public.

Proprietor Joyce Williams said: “As it’s my tenth anniversary year I am hoping to get even more people in and raise more money than I ever have before.

“I keep doing it year after year as it gives me the motivation to get out there and actually look after my garden.

“My garden is also flat so can accommodate people in wheelchairs, as well as dogs as long as they are attached to a lead.

“Last year I raised about £1,500 from entry fees and the sales of plants, teas and coffee, which was split between the National Gardens Scheme and my own chosen charity DEBRA.

“It is a national charity that supports individuals and families affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) - a group of genetic skin conditions which cause the skin to blister and tear at the slightest touch.

“My husband, two of my children and three of my grandchildren suffer from it and the condition is unfortunately only getting stronger.”

Westacres, which also hosts Women’s Institute meetings in the garden, and is also open to visits from garden societies between May and September - but only by prior arrangement.
