THE final whistle has been blown on a charity football tournament which has raised over £20,000 in ten years in memory of a Halesowen man.

The Cormac Cup has been held at Blackheath Goals every year since Cormac Doyle died whilst working for TGI Fridays, Hagley Road, in 2006.

Mr Doyle's manager Laim Mulholland organised the tournament every year but felt it was the right time to end the tradition.

He said: "The Cormac Cup started out with just a few teams and then it grew to include teams from TGI Fridays across the country.

"We set out to raise awareness about the importance of going for a health check up because Cormac died of a heart attack out the blue."

The tournament has raised funds for Acorns Children Hospice, Coventry Hospital Maternity Unit, Autism UK and several other charities.

Mr Mulholland said: "Cormac was a great man and we were honoured his wife Maureen came along to the tournament to present the trophies.

"This year a team from Norwich won and they will choose where half of the money raised is donated to."

He added: "It is with a heavy heart we are ending the tournament but the time is right with us achieving 10 years and raising over £20,000.

"I have left TGI Fridays now and am working at Mercedes but am incredibly proud of everyone who helped us make the Cormac Cup a success over the past decade."
