SUPERHEROES will be descending on Oldbury this weekend for a charity summer fete.

Generous Npower employees have organised the superhero themed fete in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support at the company's Joseph Street offices on Saturday between 10am and 2pm.

There will be various fun fundraising activities and stalls, including a basketball shoot out, face painting and a popping balloon game, and all of the money raised will be matched pound for pound by Npower.

There will also be hot and cold refreshments, music and fun games available for all.

With raffles, sporting activities and fairground style stalls, there will be lots of chances to win prizes such as a hot chocolate fondue set, West Midlands Safari Park tickets and a chance to drive a brand new Mini Cooper for a weekend.

Harvinder Bhupal, who is organising the fête, said: “I’m very excited about the fundraising we have planned. With so much happening, we want to encourage as many people as possible to come and join us on the day, have fun and help us raise as much as we can for Macmillan – so please do come and join the fun.”

Employees at the energy company have been split into teams to compete against each other to see who can raise the most cash and the team who raise the most will be crowned superheroes for Macmillan at the fete.

Liz Rothwell, head of Npower Business Solutions Service, said: “The npower teams here in the Oldbury site are putting a huge effort into making the Summer fête a fantastic event for families, friends and our neighbours in the local community.

"We have been very well supported by local businesses too and all for such a great cause, Macmillan.

"The teams have been fund-raising in the lead up to the event and it is great to see everyone having fun as well as working hard for our customers. I hope we are able to beat the fundraising total from the event last year, which was £7,000.”
