PUPILS at an Irish dancing school which has a base in Amblecote are celebrating after taking home gold in the world championship in Ireland.

Eight children from Gallagher O'Connor Irish Dance Academy, which recently opened a base at the Royal British Legion in School Drive, travelled to Athlone to be part of the recent World Irish Dance Championships.

All eight of the girls placed in the top four in their relative age groups, with two girls taking the top place in the under eight and under ten age groups, therefore being crowned world champions.

Due to the local demand for Irish dancing, the Gallagher O'Connor Irish Dance Academy only recently opened its school in Stourbridge, and now because of the success, a second class is now being launched, closely followed by a session dedicated to adults.
