OFFICERS are appealing for information after a pensioner was pinned to the floor and robbed in her Halesowen home.

A group of three men barged their way into the Springfield Drive home -sometime between 9pm and 9.25pm on Wednesday, April 6, - and one, wearing a glove, held his hand over the mouth of 78-year-old Joyce Bennett.

The others then searched the property and then made off with a quantity of cash, a handbag and purses.

Joyce was taken to hospital with a fractured arm following the robbery.

Relatives of the grandmother-of-four, a former carer and health administrator, have made a plea for information to catch those responsible.

Daughter Helen Neville said: "My mother is a really lovely lady, who is well liked - it’s heartbreaking that this has happened to her.

"She was hurt and made to feel frightened in her own home by the heartless actions of these men.

"It has hit all the family really hard and I would ask anyone who has any information to contact police.

"Just think if was your own mother or grandmother who suffered such a traumatic experience."

The offenders are believed to be in their 20s and had local accents.

Detective Sergeant Richard Narrowmore, from Dudley Police, added: "This was a horrific ordeal for the victim in her own home.

"The offenders repeatedly tried to get Joyce to open the door and when she eventually did was forcibly pinned to the floor.

"We are trawling through CCTV and carried out door to door enquiries; while patrols have been stepped up to reassure the community.

"We are following a number of lines of enquiry and would ask anyone who may have seen or heard anything to call us on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
