A MUCH-loved Hagley care home manager has retired after almost a quarter of a century of service.

Pearl Bartlett, manager at Chandos Lodge Nursing Home, has bowed out during a special party which was recently organised to show appreciation for her 21 years at the home.

Activities co-ordinator Vicky Bennett, who arranged the party at the Stourbridge Road home, said: “We will really miss Pearl as she is one of a kind.

“She is someone who has done so much for the care home, her colleagues, our residents, and their families. She is a popular, amazing lady who puts everyone before herself.

“Nothing was ever too much trouble for her and she constantly went over and above her duties since the day she walked in.

“Although she is leaving, I know Pearl is looking forward to spending more time with her family and she fully deserves to put her feet up. Although knowing her as I do, I can’t see her taking it easy. She will always be helping people.”

Pearl, who started at Chandos Lodge – part of the privately-owned Clarendon Care Home Group – in 1995, added: “It’s been a tremendous 21 years here at Chandos Lodge and I leave with so many happy memories.

“I will miss everyone terribly but will always pop in for a cup of tea to say hello when I am passing by.”
