A FIRE believed to have been caused by arsonists left a shed burnt to the ground at a Belbroughton allotments on Wednesday, September 28.

The Red Watch Crew from Kidderminster Fire Station was called out to an allotments near to The Glebe at 6.19pm, following reports of a shed that was well-alight.

Alerting residents to the fire on Twitter, Hagley and Rubery Safer Neighbourhood Team described the blaze as an "arson incident".

A Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service spokesman added the shed was left "completely destroyed" by the fire, which was extinguished using an extended hose reel.

Police are investigating the fire and appealing for information.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 6.56pm last night to reports of a fire at an allotment near to The Glebe, Belbroughton.

"The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.

"If anyone witnessed the incident or any suspicious behaviour in the area, please call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 597S of 28 September 2016.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers, via 0800 555 111 or their website."
