MORE than 100 jobs are believed to be under threat at the InterContinental Hotels Group in Brierley Hill.
It is believed workers are being consulted over plans to relocate the IHG call centre off Dudley Road to Europe.
An IHG spokesperson confirmed a consultation with staff was under way at the Brierley Hill site but would only say: “We’re constantly looking into ways to improve our services to guests.
“Recently this has involved taking a number of steps to improve our call centre services, including changing to a new provider in Europe with a higher number of native speakers.
“As part of a wider conversation around improving our operational efficiencies across our central reservation services we have entered into a consultation process with our UK CRO operation.”
Amanda Gearing, senior organiser for the GMB Birmingham and West Midlands region, said the union would be supporting its members at the Brierley Hill site through the consultation process and added: “We’re devastated by the news. Nobody wants to hear about job losses particularly in the West Midlands.”
