A SECURITY guard died after he walked into the path of a car, an inquest heard.

Darvishvand Hassan was hit by a blue Toyota Auris in Amblecote High Street on October 9 last year.

The 35-year-old, of High Street, Brierley Hill, died later that day at Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital as a result of a severe head injury.

An inquest into Mr Hassan's death took place at the Black Country Coroners Court in Oldbury on Wednesday.

Senior coroner, Zafar Siddique said that a witnesses had seen Mr Hassan, who was born in Iran, walk into the path of the car wearing sunglasses and headphones, adding: "It is not clear if he was distracted by that."

The inquest heard that at the time of impact, the driver of the vehicle was travelling through a green light at around 17mph and had told police she had not seen Mr Hassan.

Forensic collision investigator Pc Robin Smalley, said he had found no defects during an examination of the vehicle and the damage to the car was consistent with a speed below 30mph.

Mr Siddique concluded Mr Hassan had died as a result of road traffic collision.
