STAFF at Dudley hospitals have been recognised at an annual awards bash for going the extra mile to care for patients.

BBC newsreader Nicholas Owen hosted the awards ceremony for more than 200 staff from the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust which was held at The Venue in Dudley last Thursday (March 16).

Awards were presented to individuals and teams for their commitment and dedication to providing care to patients in Dudley’s hospitals and in the community.

Trust acting chief executive Dr Paul Harrison congratulated and thanked all staff shortlisted for the awards which were sponsored in the main by Allscripts and Interserve.

Matron Rachel Tomkins was “completely overwhelmed and humbled” to be awarded first place in the Unsung Hero – clinical category.

The Day Surgery Theatre Team were awarded first place in the team excellence category - while neonatal unit cleanliness support worker Victoria Daniels picked up the top prize in the Unsung Hero – non-clinical category.

The Children’s Listening into Action Team won the first place award in the Excellence in Service Improvement category - while patient wellbeing worker Stephen Collins was awarded first prize in the Excellence in Patient Care category.
