THREE people were taken to hospital with serious injuries after a car hit a lamp-post in Stourbridge on Saturday morning.

The incident happened in Birmingham Street just after 5.30am.

Two men and a woman were seriously hurt in the smash and all were taken to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

A man in his 20s suffered a serious head injury, another man in his 20s – the driver of the car - suffered multiple serious injuries, and a woman in her 20s also suffered multiple serious injuries and had to be cut free from the car by firefighters.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, a merit trauma doctor, a responder paramedic and area support officer to the scene after reports of the crash came in just after 5.36am.
