UNDECIDED voters will get the chance to pose their burning questions to the General Election candidates doing battle in Halesowen and Rowley Regis

Polls are still very tight as the snap election approaches on June 8 and the result could be decided on who is successful at the upcoming hustings hosted by Churches Together in Halesowen.

People will be able to quiz the candidates from 7.30pm on Friday, June 2, at Hasbury Christian Fellowship, in Albert Road.

Joy Howell, who is helping organise the debate, said: “Each of the candidates standing for the Halesowen and Rowley seat have been invited to attend.

“If people are undecided at this point it gives them a great opportunity to pose questions that could be of concern to help them make up their mind.”

Candidates confirmed to be attending are James Morris (Con), Ian Cooper (Lab) James Robertson (Green) and Tim Weller (Ind).

UKIP hopeful Stuart Henley is unable to attend, but Dudley councillor Dean Perks is expected to deputise in his place.

The hustings, which will be chaired by Father Rob Hall, will start with a general introduction followed by a two-minute intro from each candidate, with the order to be agreed by lots on the day.

A selection of the questions which are submitted by email to fr.rob@halasteam.org.uk before Wednesday (May 31) will then be put to the candidates.

Joy added: “There may be a chance to open questions to the floor, but we can’t guarantee there will be time, so it’s best that if people have a question to ask that they send it in as soon as possible.”
