IT'S only the second week of The Big Push but we've already raised enough cash to buy four wheelchairs.

We've been overwhelmed by the support for the campaign, which aims to purchase 50 additional wheelchairs for Russells Hall Hospital.

To reach our target we need to raise £30,000 and to date we've raked in £2,740.

This week, The Jet Singh Trust became the second organisation to sponsor a wheelchair.

The charity, which was set up last year in memory Jatinder Singh Chatha, has kindly donated £600.

Known to his family and friends as Jet, the Wolverhampton based wrestler and fitness trainer was passionate about promoting good health. He was also a caring son, brother, father and friend and his loved ones were determined to carry on his legacy.

Since the charity was set up in October last year, it has donated more than £80,000 to worthwhile causes and Jet's sister Nita Mahal, who lives in Stourbridge, said they decided to back The Big Push to support their local hospital.

She said: "Russell's Hall Hospital is a very important institution in the area which provides invaluable care to its local community.

"My brothers kids and my kids were all born there and it is a facility we'll have to use in the future if we become ill.

"Investing in a wheelchair is just a humble gesture we can offer."

How can you help?

Donating to The Big Push has never been easier, all you need is a mobile phone.

We've set up a JustTextGiving code so that whatever mobile network you're on, you can simply text NEWS66 and an amount of £2, £5 or £10 to 70070.

Even by text, you will be given the opportunity to add Gift Aid, meaning we will benefit from an extra 25 per cent.

You can also donate online via www.justgiving.com/campaigns/charity/dghc/wheelchairs or call into our offices at St John’s House, Stourbridge, and give cash or cheques - cheques MUST be made payable to Dudley Group NHS Charity/Wheelchairs.

Maybe you'd prefer to hold a fundraising event?
