A MAJOR refurbishment project has helped a Cradley Heath leisure centre go from strength to strength.

Haden Hill Leisure Centre has had a £100,000 re-fit of its gym and spin studios – with the Barrs Road venue installing the latest life fitness summit climber, recumbent bike and cross trainer.

The Sandwell Leisure Trust run facility now benefits from a state-of-the-art functional training rig.

Gym regular Glenn Grew, from Cradley Heath, said: “With the current trend of functional body weight training over old-school body building, the new rig is absolutely on the money.

“I still do some weights and heavy dead lifting, but love the flexibility and variety the rig brings and a good workout on it two times a week keeps me motivated and stops training becoming a chore - which is why most people don't continue going to the gym for long.”

The 54-year-old added: “It’s a very social piece of kit too and I love working out with like-minded individuals, as we all help and feed off each other.”

The new cardio equipment features the latest ‘Discover Cardio’ consoles, offering touch screen console technology for TV and app compatibility.

Haden Hill’s popular spin studio now benefits from a virtual indoor cycling system that allows first timers and experienced spinners alike to experience world level classes with and without an instructor.

Paul Badhams, Sandwell Leisure Trust’s fitness development officer, added: “With exciting recent moves in leisure industry technology we wanted to give members at Haden Hill Leisure Centre the very latest products and maximise their fitness experience.

“It’s all about enhancing customer satisfaction and helping them achieve personal targets and goals – and since the recent revamp membership has continued to grow and usage in both group fitness classes and the gym is well on the up.”
