CLASSIC cars will be on display at Wordsley’s Red House Glass Cone this weekend.

The Black Country Classic Car Club will be at the Camp Hill tourist attraction on Sunday September 24 showcasing a variety of classic cars including a Maestro van (1991), Fiat 500 (1962), Ford Grenada (1983) and MGB GT (1972).

More than 20 vehicles will be stationed around the Dudley Council-run site, including the canalside area; and members of the group will be on hand to talk about their cars and answer any questions visitors may have.

Founded in May 2003, the car club - which meets fortnightly meeting at The Old Swan (Ma Pardoes) in Netherton - comprises more than 70 enthusiasts and owners and this is the second time members have showcased their vehicles at the cone.

Cllr Ian Kettle, Dudley's cabinet member for planning and economic development, said: “Last year’s display by the Black Country Classic Car Club went down really well. Members of the group are friendly and well-informed and happy to answer any questions visitors may have about their prized vehicles.

“With the craft artist studios also open for business, a free children’s trail and glassblowing demonstrations throughout the day, this is a fun day out for all the family.”

There will be also glassblowing demonstrations from 10am to 4pm in the cone’s hot glass studio and the cone’s studios will be open for business - and there's also a free gnome trail running at the site.

The cone is open 10am to 3pm, Monday to Friday, and 11am to 4pm at the weekends, but the venue will be open from 10am to 4pm on Sunday September 24.

Admission is free.
