A GOLFER who suffered a heart attack and died on the 14th hole of Oldbury’s Brandhall Golf Club despite frantic attempts to save him, has been named locally as 71-year-old Geoffrey Dimmock from Cradley Heath.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the golf course, off Heron Road, at about 2.30pm on Saturday (March 20) and two ambulances, an incident support officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford were sent to the scene.
An ambulance service spokesman said: “Crews were taken to the patient, who was on the 14th hole, by a member of staff in a golf buggy. The air ambulance landed nearby on the course.
“The man was in cardiac arrest. Crews administered advanced life support at the scene for around 25 minutes in an attempt to revive the man.
“Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of ambulance crews nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
Ash Rai, operations manager of Sandwell Leisure Trust which runs the club said staff called the ambulance service after Mr Dimmock collapsed on the course while playing a round of golf with a friend.
