A DUDLEY father is fighting for his life after being attacked in front of his partner and 10-year-old daughter yesterday ( Saturday) afternoon.

The 30-year-old man became involved in an argument with a man outside the Priory Wine shop, Priory Road, at 4.20pm.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "He was floored by a single punch in front of his partner and young daughter."

The police believe that after being hit by the one punch to the head by a black male the victim fractured his skull as his head hit the pavement.

Detective Inspector Gary Dring said: "This is a terribly tragic and needless event which has left a young father on life support machine in hospital.

"The victim was walking with his partner and 10-year-old daughter to his parents house to help some DIY work it is shocking how such an innocent weekend trip can end in such circumstances."

"We believe the offender drove away from the scene in a Black Seat vehicle, I'd ask for any witnesses or if anyone has any information about this assault contact me straight away."

The offender was described as black, in his thirties, of chunky build, wearing a grey tracksuit.

A Dudley male, aged 36, has been arrested in connection with the incident. The victim is in critical condition at hospital."
