A HALESOWEN teacher will unleash her inner rock chick when she takes to the stage as Pink.

Stacy Green, who teaches art at Earls High, performs as a tribute act to the Get The Party Started singer.

The 29-year-old is looking forward to starring in the UK Tribute and Look a Like Awards at Aston Villa Football Club on Thursday February 23.

The event, being staged by Upfront Entertainment, will feature more than 30 live performances with judges choosing the winners of categories including best tribute band and best male and female solo act.

Stacy, of Vicarage Road, Dudley, first started performing when she was a pupil at Earls High aged 13. She went on to achieve success as lead guitarist and singer of the all girl rock band Onyx. The band won the Rock the Castle contest in 1998 and supported Roy Wood of Wizzard before splitting up.

Stacy then started singing in clubs and pubs.

She said: “I was singing covers and everyone kept telling me I sounded like Cher so I decided to do a tribute act to her and then I also started singing as Pink.

“My pupils think it’s great and are really rooting for me.”

Other acts performing include Antony Edwards as Michael Jackson, Tom Faulks as Michael Buble, Dave Dean as Andy Williams and Sharon Stanton as Lady Gaga.

Stacy, who hopes to bag an award on the night, showcases her talents as a tribute act at venues across the region including the Village Hotel in Dudley.
