A HALESOWEN slimming club is celebrating after one its members lost five stones after realising she had ballooned to a dangerous weight.
Lee-Jane Turner realised something had to be done after taking a long hard look in the mirror and was given support by Commbeswood based LighterLife. The 43-year-old mum of three said: “I lost my husband and was in a bad place.
“I’d put on a bit of weight having the children bit then ballooned with comfort eating after he died. That’s why I knew I couldn’t do anything until I got my head straight. After last Christmas I got focused and got on with it.”
She enrolled on the LighterLife Weight Loss Management programme, attending counsellor Debbie Blackburn’s classes and shrunk from 14st 12lbs when she started in January to 9st 11lbs within 21 weeks.
She added: “I feel a lot better, fitter, I go to the gym and swimming and make more time for myself now. My family think it’s great – mum says I look like a teenager again.”
Lee-Jane praised LighterLife after seeing the TV adverts with actress Pauline Quirke and said: ”The counselling is about why you put on weight, I knew why I had with the comfort eating after my husband’s death and I couldn’t look back on that because it’s still too raw. But the food bit has been brilliant, I’ve learned a lot and followed the Management recipes and loved them all.
“It makes you try different foods and realise you like them – I hated strawberries before but now I can’t get enough of them. I used to be a lager drinker and can’t touch it now, it makes me shudder, I stick to my water and black coffee still.”
