MEMBERS of Dudley Building Society gathered at the Copthorne Hotel in Brierley Hill for the 2014 annual meeting, where all resolutions were passed on the evening by chairman Anna East.

Guest speaker Graham Fisher likened the roots of the Black Country to those of the 156-year old Building Society. Members mingled with staff and the society board in an informal setting before formal business was conducted.

A number of charities and associations, which have relationships with Dudley Building Society, were represented to explain the benefits of working with the society.

Among representatives of the charities and associations was Will Pottinger, of Cradley Heathens Speedway, with one of the bikes.

Also present was Charlotte Schofield, of Mary Stevens Hospice, who said: "It was fantastic to attend the AGM for Dudley Building Society...and meet so many of their staff and members.

"We have had a longstanding relationship with the building society and this was the perfect opportunity to discuss the impact this support has had on the hospice over the years. We are so grateful to all of the staff and members that took the time to vote on the night as this vote was then converted to a donation by the Building Society to the hospice."

Ms East said: "I would like to extend my personal thanks to members for supporting the society and to those who attended the AGM. The local speakers discussed the past and future of both the Black Country and how the society can thrive as part of the community."
