BUSINESS students at a Stourbridge school are getting extra encouragement to work hard thanks to the backing of a Black Country accountancy firm.

Redhill School’s GCSE business studies award has once again been supported by Halesowen-based company Nicklin LLP.

This year’s winner of the Business Studies Prize for Outstanding Achievement was year 11 pupil Cydney Glover.

A spokesperson for the school said: “Cydney has been an outstanding business studies student throughout the GCSE applied business course.

“She has constantly striven to do her very best work on all assignments, conducting her own extensive research into the companies studied.

“She is an enthusiastic and positive student who has worked effectively with others and has been patient, kind and focussed when difficulties have arisen.”

As well as being named the winner of the annual award, Cydney also picked up a trophy and an Amazon Kindle.

Chris Cook, partner at Nicklin LLP, said: “It’s a pleasure to be able to present this award to Cydney. People like her are proof that perseverance and effort pay off.

“This is a well-deserved success that speaks for more than just her capabilities but also her dedication and attitude.

“I understand that Cydney aspires to become a business studies teacher and I wish her every success with that goal.”

Managing partner, Harvey Owen, added: “We’re very proud to recognise Cydney and all of her hard work. She has worked diligently and will undoubtedly be a name to look out for in the near future.”
