Church for the people

MEMBERS of Dudley Christian Fellowship are bringing the popular Alpha course to the Wren's Nest estate to take their faith into the neighbourhood.

The church has joined forces with the Wren's Nest Community Centre in what promises to be a very different way of doing church.

The Alpha course differs from traditional church meetings as guests can participate themselves.

Evenings consist of a short talk followed by group discussions. The setting is more relaxed with music and visitors can expect a light meal each week.

Alpha organiser and Wren's Nest resident Hughie Treasure said: "Instead of expecting people to come to church, we are bringing church to the people."

He added: "The community centre is really the heart of the Wren's Nest and we've felt for a long time that it's important to actually be here."

The Alpha course will follow a programme with themes such as Christianity: boring, untrue and irrelevant?' and How can I make the most of the rest of my life?' The Wren's Nest Alpha course will be run on Monday nights at 7.15pm, beginning on Monday April 16.

There is no charge for the course.

For details visit www.alphawrensnest.co.uk or call Hughie Treasure on 07963 789 610.
